Day out with the Elderly
The Rotary Club Victoria Coco de Mer took the elderly residents from the Anse Royal home for a day out to the Jardin du Roi.
They spent a relaxed time walking the beautiful spice garden and later enjoyed a delicious creole lunch. The club donated gifts to all the residents. They each received a holdall bag with a set of towels, bed sheets, toiletries and a food thermos. These were items which the residents requested.
An emotional resident thanked the club for this gesture and wished they had more people who came forward to take them out.
The President of the Club Ms Dinaz van der Lans, noted that they intend to do the same for other homes every quarter. The Club has also organised for a bus to take the elderly to enjoy the Christmas lights in Victoria.
The Club will end the year by visiting the shelter for the homeless to provide a special meal, clothes and toiletries.
